In just two days, you can see the highlights of Luxor. Visit the Karnak Temple Complex to see the ruins of a once-great civilization.
Take a felucca ride and watch a light and sound show. If you want, you can explore Luxor’s historical sites by hot air balloon.
On day 1, you will be picked up from your hotel or the bus or train station and driven to the magnificent East Bank of Luxor with an Egyptologist tour guide in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. Witness the sprawling Karnak Temple Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, upon arrival. Discover ancient temple ruins, pylons, chapels, and other historic structures, as well as the Karnak Open Air Museum.
The magnificent Luxor Temple, an ancient sandstone temple complex built by great kings such as Amenhotep III, Alexander the Great, Tutankhamun, and Ramesses II, is next on the itinerary. After exploring the temple complex, enjoy a delightful ride on a felucca, a traditional Egyptian sailing boat, before dining at a local restaurant (upgrade lunch at Banana Island is available as an add-on). Around 2 PM, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or chosen location.
Day 2 starts with another pickup, followed by a journey to either the hot air balloon port or the West Bank of Luxor, depending on the tour option chosen.
If you choose the balloon ride, cross to the Nile’s west bank to watch the sunrise. Listen to the pilot and ground crew’s safety briefing and instructions before climbing into the balloon’s basket. Enjoy the breathtaking view of Luxor and the splendor of the morning sun as the balloon gently rises in the sky.
Next, travel to Luxor’s West Bank to see the Valley of the Kings, or go there directly if you don’t want to take the hot air balloon ride. View the tombs and resting places of notable Egyptian kings such as Merneptah, Ramesses III, and Ramesses VI as you walk around the complex. If you buy the add-on, you can also visit the entrance to the famous Tutankhamun’s Tomb.
Then, proceed to the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, which is dedicated to the fifth pharaoh and Egypt’s only female ruler, who reigned for 20 peaceful years. Finally, visit Amenhotep III’s Mortuary Temple at the Colossi of Memnon before stopping for lunch at a nearby restaurant. You will then be returned to your original location.
